UFO Crashes FAQ Version .80

UFOs would seemingly be the perfect flying machine - they travel at amazing speeds, they perform astounding manuevers with no apparent side effect, and fly through the air with the greatest of ease. Or do they? The history of UFOlogy is littered with reports of UFOs crashing into both ground and sea.

Q. What is the first reported UFO crash?

A. The first reported UFO crash of the modern era, was at Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. After a thunderstorm, a rancher named Mac Brazel found strange debris on his ranch. Brazel then contacted the local sheriff, who in turn contacted the local Army Air Force base, who dispatched an investigator to look at the wreckage. The material found could reportedly not be damaged through physical force, be burned, or stay folded. The investigator, Major Jesse Marcel, then returned to the base with some of the material. A press release was then issued saying that a flying disc had been recovered. This was retracted the next day.

There have been recent reports that there was another crash, a few days earlier than this, in nearby Socorro, New Mexico, complete with dead alien beings. Some also connect the Maury Island incident,

The first story of a UFO crash came in a book by Frank Scully, Behind the Flying Saucers, but was later shown to be a hoax. The story may have been based on the Roswell crash, although that's pure speculation.

Q. If this material was so tough, why did the UFO break apart on impact?

A. Good question. Cheap welding, maybe? Really hard ground? Truthfully, this is a question that needs to be answered.

Q. Can you tell me more about this Maury Island incident?

A. Sure. 2 witnesses claimed they saw 6 UFO over Puget Sound, in Washington. One of these UFOs sputtered (figuratively speaking), and ejected a piece of slag, which fell and killed a dog owned by one of the witnesses. This slag was recovered , and given to 2 intelligence officers from the military that investigator Kenneth Arnold called in (Long story). The plane carrying the officers, and the slag, crashed killing the two men, and the slag was lost. This case also produced the first mention / appearance of the Men in Black. (See Current Phenomenon or UFO History FAQ). Many people regard this case a hoax, though.

Q. Okay, how about the first UFO crash earlier than the modern era?

A. Well, during the Great Airships Flap of 1896-1897, there was a story about an airship crashing in Aurora , Texas. The story went that the airship crashed , and the lone occupant was killed in it, and was later buried in a local cememtary. This however, turned out to be a hoax, which did not stop some UFOlogists from digging up the cemetary.

Q. I saw this show on Fox, about the autopsy of an alien, and they also showed some debris from a UFO. What crash is this from?

A. The alien body shown in the footage, and the debris, is supposed to be from the UFO crash at Socorro in New Mexico, that happened just a bit earlier than the one at Roswell, NM.

Q. How about some other UFO crashes?

A. Well, there are a lot of rumors, but few seem to be real on closer inspection.

Q. What is a good book to read on this subject?

A. Probably the best ever, would be A History of UFO Crashes by Kevin Randle
